Zusammenfassung: | 985,328. X-ray films. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORPORATION. May 28, 1962 [May 29, 1961], No. 20448/62. Heading H5R. A film for the production of radiographs by a diffusion transfer process comprises a photosensitive layer, an intensifying layer, and an image-receiving layer between them and laminated to at least the intensifying layer, the film incorporating a rupturable container of processing liquid. In the form shown, Fig. 1 has a laminated structure comprising a support layer 15, an intensifying layer 14, and an emulsion layer 12 in which the latent image is formed. This is developed by a layer 11 of processing composition, preferably in viscous form, a spreading sheet 10 assisting uniform application thereof. The developed image is transferred, by imbibition, to the receiving layer 13. The liquid layer 11 is applied by extrusion from a rupturable container (Fig. 2, not shown). A further support layer may be provided above the emulsion layer 12. Support 15 may be opaque or transparent, but if transparent must have a light-opaque backing. The intensifier layer thus remains as a component part of the finished radiograph, and acts as a " built-in " semi-opaque diffusing device, so that the radiograph may be viewed either as a reflection print or as a transparency. If the intensifier is such as to be activated also by ultra-violet light, then the finished print may be viewed under ultraviolet light as if it were a transparency. If the intensifier layer itself is of sufficient strength, the support 15 may not be necessary. Specifications 684,592, 684,593, 862,085 and 892,956 are referred to. |
