A switchgear structure includes an earthing switch 11 capable of closing on to a live line and of carrying for a limited period the shortcircuit current so produced, the switch including an actuating device with an energy storing spring 14 which is compressed during an initial movement of a controlling handle 13 and then released to close the switch. The switchgear also includes a circuit breaker 8, vertically withdrawable for isolation and selection of duplicate bus-bars 1, 3, and a current transformer 6.
