Zusammenfassung:	The invention comprises 0,0-dimethyl-0-(3-methyl-4-nitrophenyl) thionophosphate It is prepared by reacting 0,0-dimethyl chlorothionophosphate with 3-methyl-4-nitrophenol or an alkali metal salt thereof, preferably at elevated temperature; an inert solvent and/or an acid-binding agent may be used where appropriate; a catalyst such as copper powder or a cuprous salt is preferably present. The product may be purified by distillation or chromatography. It is an insecticide (see Group VI).ALSO:Insecticidal compositions comprise O,O-dimethyl-O-(3-methyl-4-nitrophenyl) phosphorothionate (for preparation see Group IV (b)) together with conventional carriers as dusts, wettable powders, emulsions, suspensions and oil preparations. Fungicides or other insecticides or herbicides may be present. A specified emulsifier is a polyethylene glycol nonyl phenyl ether. Solutions are formed in acetone and xylene.
