Zusammenfassung: | A gasoline composition comprises tetraethyl lead in an amount to provide a fuel having a motor octane number of at least 85 and a research octane number of at least 95, and a tri(alkoxyalkyl)phosphate of formula where R, R1 and R11 are alkyl groups having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, R1 and R2 are hydrogen or alkyl groups having 1 to 3 carbon atoms and x is 1 or 2. The phosphate is present in an amount between 0.1 and 1.0 times that required to convert the lead to lead phosphate, and may be between 0.003 and 0.45% by weight of the gasoline. The fuel may contain 0.25 to 0.75% by volume of a light lubricating oil, 0.001 to 0.02% by weight of an alkylated phenol, such as 2,6-di-tertiary-butyl-4-methylphenol, 0.0003 to 0.001% by weight of N,N1 - disalicylidene - 1:2 - diaminopropane, and 0.002 to 0.008% by weight of the cocoamine salt of isoamyl octyl acid orthophosphate. The composition may also contain ethylene halides. In examples the tri(alkoxyalkyl) phosphates are tri(butoxyethyl) phosphate, tri(methoxyethyl) phosphate, tri(octoxyethyl) phosphate, tri(ethoxyethoxyethyl) phosphate, tri(3-methoxy-4-heptyl) phosphate, tri (propoxyethyl) phosphate, di(methoxyethyl) propoxyethyl phosphate, and di(ethoxyethyl) butoxyethyl phosphate. A list of suitable phosphates is given. |
