Zusammenfassung: | Sedimentation of pigments and fillers in lacquers is prevented by the addition of a fluidizing agent comprising a solution in an organic solvent of a salt of a basic polyamide with a phosphoric acid or an acid ester derivative thereof, or with an acid diester of a glycol or of a polyglycol. In Example (1) a basic polyamide formed from dipropylene triamine and ricinenic acid is reacted in a mixture of xylene and butanol with the acid ester formed from equivalent amounts of polyethylene glycol-M.W. 200, castor oil fatty acid and maleic anhydride, and the resultant solution is added to a synthetic resin lacquer containing chrome yellow, Blanc fix, zinc white, linseed oil modified alkyd resin, mineral spirits, turpentine oil, xylene, butanol, a 50% solution of xylenol in dipentene and a 33% solution of cobalt-manganese-lead naphthenate in xylene. In Example (2) a basic polyamide as in (1) is reacted in a mixture of xylene and butanol with orthophosphoric acid, and the resultant solution is added to a nitrocellulose lacquer containing chrome yellow, barium sulphate, titanium dioxide, nitrocellulose, the monopropyl ether of ethylene glycol, isobutyl glycolate, dibutyl phthalate, ethyl and butyl acetates, butanol, toluene, xylene, ethanol, ethyl lactate, the condensation product of cyclohexyl carbonate with formaldehyde and the condensation product of dehydrated castor oil and phthalic acid obtained in the presence of glycerol.ALSO:A salt of a basic polyamide is prepared by reacting in an organic solvent a basic polyamide (such as that formed from dipropylene triamine with ricinenic acid) with a phosphoric acid or an acid ester derivative thereof, or with an acid diester of a glycol or of a polyglycol (such as that formed by reacting equinolar amounts of polyethylene glycol-M.W.200, castor oil fatty acid and maleic anhydride). The resulting solution in, for example, a butanol/xylene solvent may be used as a fluidising agent in the prevention of pigment or filler sedimentation in lacquers. |
