An expanding hose form has a heel part consisting of a flexible element 37 extending lengthwise of the form and adapted to be bowed to the desired protruding heel formation by relative approach movement of its ends and to be collapsed or retracted from the protruding attitude by relative separation movement of its ends. Four fins 2, 3, 4, 5 are mounted in guides, such as 14, 15, the fins 3, 5 having inclined guide blocks 16 ... 19 slidable in complementary slots, such as 20, 21, whereby they are moved outwardly when moved towards the larger end of the form by links connected to slidable operating rods (not shown) while the fins 2, 4 have slots 31, 32 for engagement by branch cams 35, 36 on operating rods 33, 34 whereby they may be swung about pivots 29, 30. The flexible element 37 comprises a length of bicycle chain and a close coiled spring enclosed in a shrunk-on plastic tube which is blended into the pivoted end of the fin 2 and a sliding member 39 connected by a bar 40 to the rod 33. The latter, the rod 34 and the rods connected to the fins 3, 5 may be operated by a pneumatic device 44 to which they are connected by a sliding collar 43 and a lever 45. The form may be mounted in a bearing 42 for angular adjustment. |
