1333351 Pyrrolo-pyrazoles ABBOTT LABORATORIES 14 Jan 1972 [4 Feb 1971] 1965/72 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein R 1 is H, halogen or C 1-4 alkyl or alkoxy, and R 2 is H, C 1-4 alkyl, di(C 1-4 alkyl)amino- C 1-4 -alkyl, benzoyl, halobenzoyl or 2-thiophenecarbonyl. These compounds are prepared by reacting 5-amino-1,3-dimethylpyrazole with benzoin (di-p-R 1 -substituted) to give a corresponding 1,3 - dimethyl - 5 - (alpha - benzoylbenzylamino)pyrazole which is ring-closed to give a compound of the above formula where R 2 is H, and if desired introducing R 2 by reacting the latter with an appropriate halide. Therapeutic compositions having anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activity comprise compounds of the above formula. Administration may be in a dosage form (e.g. oral) for immediate or sustained release.
