Zusammenfassung:A fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine of the type having a reciprocating piston pressure pump that includes an electromechanically operated relief or control valve that is arranged so that the face of the valve is not subjected to the pressurized fluid in the pumping chamber, thereby requiring less electromechanical energy to open and close the valve. In this type of arrangement it is now possible to control the opening and closing of the relief valve independently of the reciprocating motion of the piston which pressurizes the fuel in timed relation to rotation of the camshaft or crankshaft of an internal combustion engine.
