1327860 Lubricant compositions ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 28 July 1971 35497/71 Heading C5F Lubricating oils may contain a mixture of a lithium salt of a C 9 -C 30 aliphatic-hydrocarbonsubstituted succinic acid or anhydride and a C 5 -C 30 alkyl-phenol. The mixture is prepared by heating the salt and phenol to a temperature above the melting point of the salt. The salt, acid or anhydride may be treated with sulphur with or without the presence of a phosphorus sulphide at any stage. The lubricating oil may be mineral or synthetic, e.g. di-2-ethylhexyl sebacate, carbonate esters, phosphate esters, halogenated hydrocarbons, silicones, polyglycols, diesters of tetraethylene glycol and complex esters. Conventional additives (unspecified) may also be present.
