Zusammenfassung:	1308648 Valves WHITEY RESEARCH TOOL CO 7 May 1970 [7 May 1969] 21976/70 Heading F2V The end face of a rotary screw-threaded stem 22 of a lift valve has a sealing ring 46 placed in a recess between two concentric rims which are deformed over to secure the ring in the recess. The ring 46 co-operates with an upstanding seat 18 which is of a smaller dimension than the recess in a direction parallel to the stem. A surface 58 on the head of the stem co-operates with an abutment 60 to limit flow into the threads, when the valve is open. In a modification a graduating plug is secured in the central recess 52 of the stem, and has a shoulder which overlies the radial inner portion of the sealing ring. Polytetrafluoroethylene, polymonochlorotrifluoroethylene, soft metals or rubber may be used for the ring.
