Zusammenfassung:1345784 Making studs ROSAN ENG CORP and J ROSAN SNR 27 April 1971 [27 April 1970] 11689/71 Heading B3A [Also in Division F2] A stud 11 having a captive locking ring 18 is formed as follows. One end portion of a cylindrical blank has a screw-thread 13 formed by rolling, grinding, or cutting, and either concurrently or subsequently the middle section has longitudinal splines 14 formed thereon by knurling, grinding, or cutting. The ring 18, having internal and external splines 20, 19 is slipped over the plain end of the blank to engage the splines 14. The plain end is then threaded at 12 by rolling. The outside diameters of threads 12, 13 are larger than the internal diameter of ring 18 to retain the latter captive on the stud. An annular groove may be formed between the thread 12 and the splines 14.
