MULTI-FIELD SCANNING TOOLS IN MATERIALS HANDLING VEHICLES

A materials handling vehicle comprises a steering mechanism, materials handling hardware, a vehicle drive mechanism, a user interface, a vehicle body and a multi-field bumper laser assembly that facilitate movement along a travel plane in a warehouse. The multi-field bumper laser assembly comprises a forward-left scanning laser, forward-right scanning laser and an intersecting scanning laser which are pivotally coupled to a laser carrier mounted to the vehicle body. The forward-left and forward-right scanning lasers are positioned to direct respective upright laser fields from the leading edge of the materials handling vehicle. The intersecting scanning laser is positioned to direct a laser field which intersects the forward-left and forward-right laser fields. Laser adjustment hardware couples each scanning laser to the laser carrier and forces each scanning laser to pivot about its respective axis.
