Zusammenfassung:	The present disclosure relates to a system and method for monitoring and reporting the energy consumption of an appliance or fixture installed within a building structure. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a system and method for monitoring usage of a ventilation unit, such as an installed bathroom exhaust fan or cooktop/range ventilation hood. The system and method captures usage data of the ventilation unit, and transfers the usage data to a connected electronic device for determining the energy consumed by the ventilation unit and reporting the same to a user.
