Zusammenfassung:The present invention relates to the preparation of hydrophilic linkers used for the conjugation of a drug, in particular, a cytotoxic agent or a chromophore molecule to a cell binding molecule. The present invention also relates to methods of making cell-binding agent-drug (e.g. cytotoxic agent) conjugates comprising either modification of drugs with these hydrophilic linkers first, followed by reaction with cell-binding agents; or modification of cell-binding agents with these hydrophilic linkers first, followed by reaction with drugs.
