Zusammenfassung:	Disclosed herein is a method and system for improving the recovery of hydrocarbons from a reservoir. The method includes injecting a steam-solvent mixture at during the start-up phase of a gravity-assisted recovery process, such as a SAGD operation. Using the method disclosed, oil and solvent production rates can be increased while decreasing the steam requirements for the SAGD operation when the solvent-steam mixture is injected prior to substantial inter-well communication being established.
