PREPARATION OF HIGH-PURITY LITHIUM FLUORIDE

The present invention relates to a process for preparing high-purity lithium fluoride proceeding from lithium carbonate, to preparing a lithium fluoride with a preferred morphology. The process for preparing lithium fluoride described herein, comprises at least the steps of: a) providing an aqueous medium comprising dissolved lithium carbonate; b) reacting the aqueous medium provided in a) with gaseous hydrogen fluoride to give an aqueous suspension of solid lithium fluoride; c) separating the solid lithium fluoride from the aqueous suspension and d) drying the separated lithium fluoride.
