CATECHOL O-METHYLTRANSFERASE ACTIVITY INHIBITING COMPOUNDS

The present description relates to compounds of formula I, exhibiting COMT enzyme inhibiting activity and are thus useful as COMT inhibitors: (see formula I) wherein R1 is (C2-C6)alkenyl, aryl, aryl-S-, heteroaryl or aryl(C1-C6)alkyl, wherein said aryl or heteroaryl as such or as part of another group is substituted with 1 or 2 substituent(s) R6; R6 is, independently at each occurrence, (C1-C6)alkyl or (C1-C6)alkoxy ; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof. The present description also relates to pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound of formula I. More particularly, the present description relates to the use of compound of formula I for the treatment of Parkinson's disease.
