Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates, in general, to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and in particular to a vaccine for HIV-1 and to methods of making and using same. Also described are immunogens, which may be used for generating an immune response in a patient. In embodiments, such immunogens include immunogens of the first and second variable regions (V1V2) of HIV-1 env gp120. Also described is a composition comprising such an immunogen and a carrier and/or an adjuvant. In embodiments, such immunogens or compositions may be used for inducing antibodies to the V1V2 region of HIV-1 env gp120 in a subject.
