METHOD FOR PROCESSING BANKNOTES (VARIANTS)

The method can be used in devices for detecting, counting or sorting bank notes, and can be used to determine the basic characteristics of bank notes, such as the type of currency and the denomination. The method is based on computer processing of a digital sample of a bank note which is generated in the device during scanning. The technical result is to increase the speed of processing of bank notes. A first variant of the method envisages initial classification, followed by checking of the possible classes selected for correspondence to several known criteria corresponding to each class. In order to give a more precise result, the permissible correlation between characteristics for two fields is checked. In accordance with a second variant of the method, classification is performed on the basis of a digital sample of a bank note and, for each possible class, the degree of correspondence between the bank note and this class is calculated, the classes being ranked in order of degree, and the bank note is related to the class which is closest thereto in terms of the degree of correspondence.
