La présente invention concerne l'utilisation d'une substance choisie dans l'ensemble consistant en substances anti-inflammatoires, substances antimicrobiennes, substances antitumorales, substances antivirales, et/ou substances stimulant l'os comme additif à un matériau UHMWPE pour la production d'un implant médical afin de conférer des propriétés de réponse corporelle bénigne à l'implant médical.
