HARD CAPSULE

Disclosed is a hard capsule which is highly stable even when a solvent capable of dissolving a poorly soluble pharmacologically active ingredient is filled therein, and which has excellent mechanical strength under a low-humidity environment. Specifically disclosed is a hard capsule which comprises a coating film, wherein the coating film comprises: (A) a polymer or a copolymer produced by the polymerization or copolymerization of at least one polymerizable vinyl monomer represented by general formula [1]: H2C=C(R1)-COOR2 [1] [wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; and R2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms] in the presence of a polyvinyl alcohol and/or a derivative thereof; and (B) at least one compound selected from a group consisting of (B-1) a polyhydric alcohol, (B-2) an ester of a polyhydric alcohol and a carboxylic acid having 1 to 5 carbon atoms and (B-3) an ester of a polycarboxylic acid and an alcohol having 1 to 5 carbon atoms. The hard capsule has excellent mechanical strength, can keep a low moisture content, and exhibits excellent physical stability even when a solvent capable of dissolving a poorly soluble pharmacologically active ingredient is filled therein.
