Zusammenfassung:	A glass composition for producing proppants is described herein. The glass comprises by weight percent, oxides of (a) from 45 to 57% SiO2, (b) from 26 to 36% MgO, (c) from 3 to 6% Al2O3, (d) from 5 to 11% FeO + Fe2O3 and (e) from 3 to 8% CaO. A method A for making proppants is also described herein. The method comprises heating a glass composition to produce a melt jet, dispersing the melt jet using a pressurized water jet to produce glass ceramic spheres, crystallization burning of the glass ceramic spheres; and cooling the glass ceramic spheres.
