SEAT MECHANISM FOR AN ITEM OF SEATING FURNITURE, IN PARTICULAR OFFICE SWIVEL CHAIR

The invention relates to a seat mechanism for an item of seating furniture, in particular a chair, with a movable seat carrier (1) and a backrest carrier (3), which are mounted on a main carrier (9), wherein the backrest carrier (3) can be pivoted about a horizontal pivot axis (13) counter to the action of a force accumulator, and the seat carrier (1) and the backrest carrier (3) are coupled to each other. According to the invention, a lifting mechanism (15, 17) is provided, said lifting mechanism converting pivoting of the backrest carrier (3) into a lifting movement of the seat carrier (1). This measure provides a seat mechanism with a weight-dependent resetting force for the backrest, which seat mechanism is distinguished by a simple construction and with which the weight can be utilized efficiently. To increase the comfort, it is proposed to design the seat to be lowerable in the rear region and to configure the resetting force to be adjustable by means of a second force accumulator.
