METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ASSESSING CHARACTERISTICS OF LIQUIDS

A method and apparatus for determining whether a liquid product presents a security threat are provided, where the liquid product includes a container holding a liquid. The liquid product is scanned with an X-ray imaging device to generate X-ray image data conveying an image of the liquid product. Information associated with a geometry of the container is derived at least in part based on the X-ray image data. A threat status conveying whether the liquid held by the container presents a security treat is derived based in part on the information associated with the geometry of the container and on the X-ray image data. A display device is then used to convey information related to the threat status associated with the liquid held by the container.
