Zusammenfassung:Unique temporary MAC addresses (Pig. 2, 203) are calculated by mobile dev ices connected to wireless networks, using access point advertising informat ion (201) in combination with the permanent MAC address of the mobile device (202). The mobile devices use a hash function to construct a bit sequence f rom which a temporary MAC address can be extracted. The MAC address is uniqu e over the entire region in which the mobile device can operate, without nec essity of any coordination or negotiation between various access points of t he region.
