Zusammenfassung: | The present invention is predicated on the discovery that a polysaccharid e transferase purified from barley seedlings can catalyze the formation of c ovalent bonds between different polysaccharides, including between xylogluca ns and cellulose, and between xyloglucans and (1,3;1,4) -.beta.-D-glucans. T he present invention thus provides, among other things, an isolated or subst antially purified polysaccharide transferase, wherein said polysaccharide tr ansferase is capable of catalyzing the formation of a covalent bond between a donor polysaccharide and an acceptor polysaccharide; or a functionally act ive fragment or variant of said polysaccharide transferase. |
