USE OF PROINSULIN FOR THE PREPARATION OF A NEUROPROTECTIVE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION, THERAPEUTIC COMPOSITION CONTAINING IT AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF

The present invention relates to the use of a compound that induces the a ctivity of proinsulin, preferably human proinuslin, for the preparation of a medicinal product or pharmaceutical composition for the prevention and trea tment of neurodegenerative conditions, disorders or diseases involving progr ammed cell death, preferably neurodegenerative pathologies of the central an d peripheral nervous systems, and, more preferably, of the heredodegenerativ e diseases known as retinosis pigmentosa. The activator compound may consist of a chemical molecule, a peptide, a protein or a nucleotide sequence.
