Zusammenfassung:	The disclosed invention is a tidal energy structure capable of capturing the kinetic energy of tidal currents. The tidal energy structure is composed of containment walls located in open ocean waters and arranged in the form of an hourglass. The two open ends of the structure face the ebbing and flooding tidal currents and the two narrow ends lead into a turbine compartment. The shape of the structure is such that the containment walls funnel the tidal currents into the central turbine compartment where a turbine apparatus is then able to convert the kinetic energy of the currents into electrical power. A key component of the structure is that it is able to capture the kinetic energy of both ebbing and flooding tidal currents.
