Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a process for sintering metal-containing materials, such as for example iron ores or manganese ores, on a sintering machine in which the sintering waste gas from the third portion is transported to the sintering waste gas from the first portion and unified with the latter in a mixing region to form a mixed gas, wherein the transporting distance of the sintering waste gas from the third portion to the mixing region is greater than the transporting distance of the sintering waste gas from the first portion to the mixing region, and relates to an apparatus for carrying out the process.
