Representative prcd polymorphisms characteristic of a prcd haplotype are also provided. L'invention concerne un procédé pour identifier des chiens comme étant d'un point de vue génétique probablement normaux, porteurs de, ou touchés par une dégénérescence progressive des cônes et des bâtonnets, comprenant l'analyse d'acides nucléiques prélevés sur un chien et la détermination de la présence ou de l'absence d'un ou plusieurs polymorphismes prcd dans les acides nucléiques. Des polymorphismes prcd représentatifs caractéristiques d'un haplotype prcd sont aussi proposés.
