Zusammenfassung:	A process for the removal of organic sulfur compounds, primarily oxygenated organic compounds, such as sulfates and sulfonic esters from a hydrocarbon liquid is disclosed which comprises contacting the hydrocarbon liquid with a coalescer comprising a mesh material which has been wetted by sulfuric acid. The hydrocarbon liquid may be the product from a sulfuric acid catalyzed alkylation process and contain sufficient sulfuric acid to remove the sulfates and sulfonic esters. Sulfuric acid may be added to the coalescer vessel counter current to the hydrocarbon liquid to improve the efficiency of the contacting and removal. L'invention concerne un procédé pour éliminer d'un hydrocarbure liquide des composés sulfurés organiques, principalement des composés organiques oxygénés, tels que des sulfates et des esters sulfoniques, lequel procédé consiste à mettre en contact l'hydrocarbure liquide avec un coalesceur comprenant un matériau à mailles, mouillé avec de l'acide sulfurique. Cet hydrocarbure liquide peut être le produit d'un processus d'alkylation catalysée à l'acide sulfurique et peut contenir suffisamment d'acide sulfurique pour l'élimination des sulfates et des esters sulfoniques. L'acide sulfurique peut être ajouté au coalesceur à contre-courant de l'hydrocarbure liquide pour améliorer l'efficacité de la mise en contact et de l'élimination.
