Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a system for characterizing grinding material, especially milled grain, in a roll mill comprising a roll passage formed by a pair of rolls. The system comprises an extraction device which is analyzed downstream of the roller passages and used to extract a grinding material sample from the flow of grinding material leaving the roll passage; a presentation section for conveying and presenting the grinding material sample; a recording device for recording the grinding material sample conveyed through the presentation section; and an analysis device for analyzing the recorded grinding material sample.
