Zusammenfassung:The present invention relates to method and compositions, based upon natural microbial biosurfactants, for controlling pests. According to an embodiment, the present invention comprises a method including obtaining a microbial biosurfactant having a rhamnolipid, and providing the microbial biosurfactant to one or more pests in an amount such that the one or more pests are controlled, wherein the pests are nematodes. According to another embodiment, the method comprises obtaining a biosurfactant-producing microbe that produces a rhamnolipid; and providing the microbe to one or more pests in an amount such that the microbe produces the rhamnolipid in an amount such that the pests are controlled, wherein the pests are nematodes. According to a further embodiment, the present invention comprises a method for producing a biosurfactant for use in controlling pests, and comprises cultivating a biosurfactant-producing microbe that produces a rhamnolipid, including producing a fermentation broth containing the rhamnolipid; and from the fermentation broth, obtaining the rhamnolipid in a concentration that can be provided to pests in an amount such that the pests are controlled, wherein the pests are nematodes.
