Zusammenfassung:	There is provided a method and system for controlling the quality of an industrial process. One or more reference signals relating to the industrial process are compared to one or more real signals that are indicative of the quality of the industrial process. A real part and an imaginary part obtained from both the reference signal and the real signal are used to compute first and second comparison quantities. Time location information associated with the presence of defects is obtained from a comparison of the first and second comparison quantities.
