A first embodiment uses at least one barb assembly (105) having first portions (270) attached to an implant (100), a bend (280), and second portion (275) disposed opposite the first portion from the bend (280) and having a bearing surfaced (285). The second portion (275) is adapted to protrude radially inward when the inplant (100) is in the radially compresse d configuration and radially outward when the implant (100) is in its radially expanded configuration. A second embodiment uses a barb (405) having a curve d segment which is curved proximally and radially inwardly. A third embodiment utilizes at least one barb assembly (505) having a wire (507) with a length greater than the cell height of the implant across which it extends and a substantially uniform cross - sectional area. |
