Zusammenfassung:The present invention concerns a process for preparing higher primary alkano ls and in particular for preparing 1-octacosanol comprising a multistep process involving reacting cyclodecanone with a secondary amine, reacting the resulting 1-amino-1-cyclodecene with an activated alkanoic acid, subjecting the thus obtained 2-n.alkyl-cyclotetradecan-1,3-dione to a ring opening reaction and a Wolff-Kishner conversion, eterifying the thus obtained alkano ic acid with an alkanol and subsequently reducing the thus obtained ester to th e desired higher primary alcohol.
