Zusammenfassung: | An electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery has a thin film deposited on a current collector. The thin film is composed of active material that expands and shrinks as it stores and releases lithium, e.g., a microcrystalline or amorphous silicon thin film. The thin film is divided into column portions by gaps formed therein in a manner to extend in a thickness direction of the film, and the columnar portions are, at their bottoms, adhered to the current collector. The current collector exhibits a tensile strength that is equal to or greater than 7.44 N/mm, the tensile strength being calculated as tensile strength (N/mm2) per sectional area of the current collector material x thickness (mm) of the current collector. |
