A METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SOFTWARE UPDATING

The present invention relates to a method and system for updating software i n a network element of a telecommunication network the units of which are divided into an original side and testing side, and which system comprises a network element (110), comprising units (111) that are logically divided int o an original side and testing side, an original software (1101) for performin g traffic transmitting tasks, and a new piece of software to be tested and/or introduced (1102). According to the invention, the system comprises one or more test connections (112) directed into the units of testing side (111R1...RN) loaded with the new piece of software (1102), in order to be ab le to test the new piece of software in question. The invention provides the advantage that it makes it possible to carry out test connections when testi ng a new piece of software in a network element of a telephone net-work. Moreover, owing to the invention, a new piece of software may be introduced in a network element of a telephone network maintaining the existing connection s at the same.
