Zusammenfassung: | A process for drying a liquid electrodeposited coating composition applied t o a metal substrate is provided. Infrared radiation and warm air are applied simultaneously to the electrodeposited coating composition for a period of a t least about 1 minute, the velocity of the air at the surface of the electrodeposited coating composition being less than about 4 meters per second. The temperature of the metal substrate is increased at a rate rangin g from about 0.25 ~C per second to about 2 ~C per second to achieve a peak met al temperature of the substrate ranging from about 35 ~C to about 140 ~C. Infrared radiation and hot air are applied simultaneously to the electrodeposited coating composition for a period of at least about 2 minute s, during which the temperature of the metal substrate is increased at a rate ranging from about 0.2 ~C per second to about 1.5 ~C per second to achieve a peak metal temperature ranging from about 160 ~C to about 215 ~C, such that a dried electrodeposited coating is formed upon the surface of the metal substrate. |
