An essential feature of the feedstock is a dietary cation-anio n difference (DCAD) with a value between about -5 and +20 meq/100g dietary DM. Other essential features are a weight ratio of potassium:magnesium between about 3 - 5:1, and between about 1-12g/kg dietary DM of omega-6 fatty acid derivative havin g rumen-bypass properties.
