SLACKLESS RAILWAY COUPLET WITH BUFF GEAR

In a slackless railway car connector arrangement, an assembly with a pocket-casting and positive stops connected to a center-sill sidewall is biased by a buff-gear assembly to mechanically ground the connector in the draft direction, but will move longitudinally in the buff direction a predetermined amount against the bias force of the buff-gear assembly until the front plate contact surface contacts the rearward positive stop to limit further buff direction travel of the coupler and pocket casting, which positive stops and pocket casting connections transfer the force load to the plate-reinforced center-sill to cushion the dynamic loading on the coupler assembly.
