Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a leaktight seal with a lip (25) capable of gripping a shaft end (15) and fitted behind a cap (26). When the cap (26) is in place covering the shaft end (15) and closing the housing (8), it presses on a stop flange (23) of seal (20) and pushes the lip (25) outwards so that the rotation of the shaft end (15) causes no wear to the seal. When the cap is removed, the housing (8) remains open but the lip (25) grips the shaft end and restores the leaktight seal. This fitting is of particular use for shaft ends (15) fitted with a key slot used for manually rotating a rotating machine during the inspection phase of servicing, the shaft end (15) being driven during normal use of the machine.
