Zusammenfassung:	A method of coating a hydrophobic fibrous material with an amphiphilic polyelectrolyte which involves coating the hydrophobic fibrous material with a foam under conditions sufficient to substantially uniformly coat the hydrophilic fibrous material with the amphiphilic polyelectrolyte. The foam is generated from a solution of an amphiphilic polyelectrolyte in water. The hydrophobic fibrous material may be a polyolefin, such as polyethylene or polypropylene. The hydrophobic fibrous material also may be a nonwoven web, such as a meltblown or spunbonded nonwoven web. When the hydrophobic fibrous material is a nonwoven web, the web typically is coated with the foam, vacuum extracted, nipped, and dried.
