Zusammenfassung: | A bidirectional piezoelectric road traffic sensor is provided herein. It includes a first length of a coaxial piezoelectric cable having an electrically-conductive core, an electrically-conductive polymer surrounding the core, an electrically-conductive sheath therearound and an electrically non-conductive jacket around the sheath. A second length of a similar coaxial piezoelectric cable is provided. A first splice is formed in a particularly recited manner. This first splice is then encapsulated in an electrically non-conductive material, thereby providing a positive piezoelectric sensor. A third length of a similar coaxial piezoelectric cable is provided. A second splice is formed in a particularly recited manner. This second splice is then encapsulated in an electrically non-conductive material, thereby providing a neutral piezoelectric sensor, and a negative piezoelectric sensor. Preferably, a shielded coaxial cable including an electrically-conductive core, an electrically-conductive sheath and an electrically non-conductive jacket therearound is spliced by a third splice to the first piezoelectric cable in a particularly recited manner. The third splice is encapsulated in an electrically non-conductive material to provide a negative piezoelectric sensor. |
