Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to novel flavilium derivatives of general formula (I) wherein X is an anion, whereby a pharmaceutically acceptable salt is formed, R1 and R2 are independently selected from hydrogen or -OY, in which Y is hydrogen, .alpha.-amino-acyl or amino-alkyl having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; R5 is hydrogen, .alpha.-amino-acyl or amino-alkyl having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; R3, R4, and R7 independently are hydrogen or alkyl having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, R6 is hydrogen, hydroxy or alkyl having 1 to 5 carbon atoms. The compounds of general formula (I) possess an outstanding selective anti-viral effect.
