Zusammenfassung: | An alumina coating, produced by aluminium electroplating of a stainless steel containing from about 0.02 to about 0.2% of misch metal or 0.2 t o 0.8% of titanium, improved the oxidation resistance in air of these stainless st eels at least up to 1100.degree.C. In thermal cycling tests carried out between 1000. degree.C and room temperature, these steels maintained an excellent adhesion matrix-coating, for at least up to 500 cycles. In fact, the addition of misch metal or titanium in s tainless steel provided good bonding between coating and matrix. The porous nature of the alumina coating was found very beneficial because it favors the absorption of th e thermal and growth stresses. |
