Zusammenfassung: | INJECTION MOLDABLE GLASS FIBER REINFORCED POLYESTER WITH IMPROVED SURFACE FINISHES A glass fiber reinforced poly(ethylene terephthalate) resin, comprising: (i) a poly(ethylene terephthalate) resin; (ii) 10 to 60 weight % of reinforcing glass fibers; and (iii) 0.1 to 10 weight % of a nucleating agent comprising: (a) a Group I, II, or IV metal cation salt of an ethylene/methacrylic acid copolymer resin having a melt flow index of from about 0.5 g/10 minutes to about 150 g/10 minutes measured at 190.degree.C under a 10,128 gram load, and (b) a Group I, II, or IV metal cation salt of an ethylene/acrylic acid copolymer resin having a melt flow index of from about 0.5 g/10 minutes to about 150 g/10 minutes measured at 190.degree.C under a 2,160-gram load. The invention provides a simple, inexpensive method for producing glass fiber reinforced poly(ethylene terephthalate) with smooth and glossy surfaces at mold temperatures less than about 110.degree.C. A simple, inexpensive method for producing such products is not believed to be disclosed or suggested in the prior art. |
