PREPARATION OF SYMMETRICAL TETRACHLOROPYRIDINE FROM CHLORINATED .beta.-(TRICHLOROMETHYL) PYRIDINES EMPLOYING A CATALYST

Symmetrical tetrachloropyridine is prepared by contacting chlorinated .beta.-(trichloromethyl)pyridines with chlorine in a liquid phase reaction in the presence of from 0.1 to 1.0 mole percent of a catalyst.
