Zusammenfassung:	A process is provided for improving the elastic recovery of a previously oriented fibrous material comprising at least 85 mole percent polyethylene terephthalate by annealing the fibrous material at a temperature of about 180 to about 210.degree.C for a period of about 1 to about 30 minutes, while controlling the length of the fibrous material in a manner sufficient to prevent a longitudinal shrinkage or extension of greater than about 5%. The resulting annealed fiber is then preferably crimped.
