Duffield Docket No.: R-1131 A corrosion resistant fastening system for use with metallic targets exposed to corrosive, aqueous environments, comprising a fastener and a planar coupon each formed of a corrosion resistant alloy. The fastener is driven through the coupon and into the target by means of a powder actuated tool, whereby the coupon is maintained in intimate contact with the target surface. Corrosion thus preferentially occurs at the interface between the target and the coupon, the interface between the target and the fastener being thereby protected.
